A question about one of the things men notice: Scent. Some of us have allergies to scented products, and can no longer wear perfume, cologne, or scented body wash. Even shampoo and conditioner can be an issue. I used unscented laundry detergent and softener. My breath probably smells like coffee!

My husband loves that I correct him on stuff. For example, he bought an item. I showed him all of the places he could have gotten the item for less money. His mom insisted we spend all holidays with them and carried on about it. Then his brother came along with a girlfriend who pointed out they couldn't eat two big meals in a day. My family doesn't do Thanksgiving on Thursday, they do it the following Sunday. But Christmas was hell. I finally told him I wasn't going. He'd go, eat the meal and leave. He finally told them, no, he wasn't going. He missed me too much.

Before they even left to their separate destinations to eat, they made an appointment where to meet and at what time. If a man or woman are going to eat together, it’s always good to eat the same food, or eat in the same restaurant, or at least enjoy meals together. This may involve a little bit of compromising. They were a lot of 30-year-old 40-year-old and 50-year-old single women now because he can’t find a man. If you’re gonna live by this man’s advice, you gonna be hitting the wall and you’re gonna be living by yourself or with a dog or a cat for the rest of your life .

Am 78. Did enjoy your chat. 28 years married and after divorce another relationship. Am now alone and happy to be so. I do however have 2 wonderfull children and will always be grateful to my husband for them.

Such 'gestures' are mass produced, require no time, thought, or effort, and are not personal to any recipient. Real gestures of love are ones such as truly pulling his weight with the housework, involving her in his life, LISTENING to her, TAKING HER SERIOUSLY, supporting HER dreams, HER career, focusing on HER not himself sexually, bragging about her to others, gestures that require thought, effort, and time.
